Kiss and Tell

Light Spectacle

History: The rain suddenly stopped and the sun surprisingly peeked mid afternoon today. I spent a great deal of time looking out into the massive glass windows at work and the wonderful hues served as inspiration.

Enjoy.

We were teasing each other about something but for some weird (and fortunate) reason, our lips met. It had been the most incredible feeling.

I didn’t know how, but I found myself kissing my then girlfriend, Blue, right inside my college dorm room. It had been a first for us both. I was seventeen and awkward. I was her first girlfriend and she was mine. Our intense relationship lasted for a year then I magically turned into a pig so we broke up.

My time with Yellow was a bit of a whirlwind. She was a budding butch and was so deep into the closet. We only kissed after months of dating. Our first kiss happened right in the middle of a tutoring session for an impossible class. I was her first and after the short lived relationship with Blue, I felt like an expert.

Indigo’s was that of a fairy tale. We just finished watching a local concert and were talking quietly in the uni’s open ground. I was drowning in her eyes and the next thing I knew, we were kissing underneath the stars.

Red was the playful one, as proven by our first kiss. I remembered not caring if other people stared whilst we made out at the backseat of a car. She was adventurous and gave a whole new definition to having fun. We had sex in every place imaginable and being with her had been a roller coaster ride while it lasted. But as the cliche goes, all good things must come to an end.

Orange had been a treat. She was straight as an arrow but willingly took a risk for me. We kissed in her car while the speakers blared a song by Neyo.

I crossed paths with various shades of greens (pun intended) from time to time. Dark Green and I met while I was waiting for my espresso fix and I was introduced to her bed that same night. Light Green was looking for  J.Winterson book and I happened to be reading the only copy left, we read to each other naked the following week. I could vaguely remember Really Dark Green’s cigarette breath (but never her name) as she kissed the hammered me, in the middle of a crowded bar.

And White came along unexpectedly not caring about my tainted past. She slowly leaned in, biting me softly on the bottom lip. She whispered how scared she was of falling for another girl but closed her eyes and stayed.

I kissed different hues of the spectrum and then some. It had been one heck of a ride but I definitely learned a life lesson from each of them.

So what’s your favorite color of the rainbow?

  1. Purple!
    She came without a warning;
    poured out her feelings
not expecting it to be returned,
    she gives and gives
    unbelievably selfless

  2. The color good enough to make one cease from trying out other colors. Does that make sense? 🙂

      1. Ofcourse.

Hey, may I suggest a good movie? It’s called PARIAH starring Adepero Oduye. It’s a really good one. I love the poem her character wrote at the latter part of the movie… shows how heartache and pain can give a writer greater depth. 🙂

      2. Uhm, I don’t think I want pain and heartache as motivation to write but I’ll definitely check this movie.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll look it up 🙂

  3. Sensational tie in of the colors…brown, I know it’s not necessarily a color in the rainbow, however it is a color in the color wheel. And I happen to be deep in love with someone who has brown skin…amazing!!

  4. I really like this! I think, strangely, that love is a type of language universal to everyone. It’s as confusing and full of wonder as we allow it to be.

Thanks for checking out my writing as well!

Tell me what you think.
